What started off as a dreary day turned to gold mid morning when this yellow belly thought it was a cod and inhaled my fly. Not too shabby as the fly was tied onto a 5/0 owner hook.
The fly is especially tied short to prevent short takes from shy fish, most of these being yellow belly who will hit large flies but are not able to connect with the hook so cast accurately to structure with a large fly and vary your retrieve. Don’t forget to have a few casts at that structure, just to make sure they’re awake.
